Wow! This is some of the best Indian food ever. Presentation, menu and spices are phenomenal. This is a must try spot that is just as good as LA area restaurants. Medium spice is great for those that like spicy food but are not looking for pain. I am not a big fan of Lassi in general, but it is the best drink to calm down the spicy food. Staff are nice and do their best to make service enjoyable for all. There is a small parking lot but plenty of tables inside. SLO students come here often.

I discovered an authentic Punjabi restaurant in San Luis Obispo. The owner was incredibly kind and even treated us to a traditional Punjabi sweet called Pinni. We tried the Malai Kofta and Paneer Chilli—the spice level was just perfect! The food was amazing, and so was the chai.

Great food, great service. Will be coming back. I ordered lamb samosas, chai, and the combination dinner plate, which includes your choice of lamb or chicken curry, lentil soup, chicken tikka masala, yogurt, rice pudding, basmati rice, and naan bread. The lamb samosas were delicious, especially when topped with the the provided sauces. I opted for the lamb curry, which was perfectly spiced - very intense and flavorful but not overpowering. The lamb meat itself was very tender and could be parted with a spoon if desired. The lentil soup and chicken tikka masala were equally as good and just as well prepared. Both the yogurt and the rice pudding were new to me, but both were enjoyed. The naan was fluffy and soft, the chai was good, and sugar is provided to taste in packets, including raw cane and artificial sweeteners. Service was great, and very friendly. They had an Indian pop music playlist playing in the restaurant, which I enjoyed despite not understanding. May not be to all tastes, though.

I had an amazing experience at Jewel of India. From the moment I walked in, the service was top-notch—attentive, friendly, and quick without feeling rushed. The food was even better. The butter chicken was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor, easily one of the best I’ve had. Paired with the perfectly soft and garlicky naan, it was an absolute delight. Every bite was bursting with authentic Indian spices and freshness. If you're looking for a place with incredible food and outstanding service, this spot is a must-visit!

Excellent service and food was unbelievable. One of best Indian meals we’ve ever had. We joked all we talked about the whole meal was how we couldn’t believe how good the food was. Reasonable costs. 3-4 naan with a generous portion, 8 samosas which were fabulous and our favorite was my husbands meal the Paneer Tikka Masala - couldn’t recommend more highly. Chef checked on us to make sure spice was good- it was great service. Only comment is I wish rice was included with main meal.
